Hegglehead is an
isolated farmhouse in one of the quieter areas of the Lake District
National Park about twelve miles from Penrith or Keswick and just outside
the small hamlet of Hutton Roof.
Overlooking Skiddaw Forest
and the the Northern fells, which are probably the largest and least
frequented areas of unfenced access land in the National Park, it is
ideally situated for walking and mountain biking.
A large area of Greystoke
forest has been recently opened up to the public with well signposted
forest walks with an abundance of wildlife. Access to the forest is less
than half a mile from the cottage.
Good shopping is available
in either Penrith or Keswick and the city of Carlisle is only 20 miles
away. Village shops are located in Greystoke and Hesket Newmarket about 6
miles away.
There is a pub in Hutton
Roof less than half a mile away.
